BACKGROUND

The Southern African Society of Legal Historians was founded to promote the study of the South African legal system and its diverse heritage. The organisation has a membership of South African and foreign academics who share an interest in the history of the South African legal order. The various elements will be discussed at this conference in sessions devoted to

§         Ancient legal systems: Roman law, Greek law and ancient Near-Eastern law
